In a culture of microwave entrees and emailed affections, we have come to expect conveniences. In the words of Stuart Holden, “We have become accustomed to the sacrifice of the ideal on the altar of the convenient and immediately profitable.”

The most convenient option isn’t always best, though, and feeling entitled to a painless solution to a big problem doesn’t guarantee the provision of one.

The fear, guilt and grief that can accompany an unplanned pregnancy are very real. Countless men and women have stared at the results of a pregnancy test and imagined their future unraveling. The temptation of the quick-fix-lie of abortion is very genuine when one’s foundation is shaken, but it doesn’t change the fact that it is a lie. In truth, there are shattering, long-term consequences.

The glorious message of the Gospel is that God delights in bringing beauty to a situation that seems hopelessly messy. The God of the Bible restores the broken and gives a hope and a future to those who trust in Him.

Jeremiah 29:11 “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord. ‘Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.’”
