A Birth Grandmother’s Story
My daughter had worked hard to get good grades and we’d searched for a college that had a major that would allow her to fulfill her dreams. We’d found the perfect school, and they’d offered her a generous financial package, it was perfect! ... Until she told us she was pregnant, two weeks before we were supposed to move into the dorms. I was devastated; my husband was angry, so angry I thought he might actually hurt her and her boyfriend.
From our pastor’s recommendation, I called Covenant Care and reached one of the most compassionate people I’ve ever met. Our counselor, over a period of months, calmed me down and was able to reach out to my daughter and her boyfriend. The counselor was there to support my daughter in her choices and to make sure she was mentally, emotionally and physically prepared to live with her choice. She was an advocate for the baby – making sure the baby had a safe home, no matter where that home turned out to be.
After about 6 months of meeting with the counselor, lots of talking, research and prayer, my daughter and her boyfriend chose to make an adoption plan for their baby. They were able to pick a family that fit their ideal perceptions. We even met them before the birth!
Covenant Care was there for us every step of the way. Everyone that we interacted with was concerned, compassionate and honest. Today, six months later, our counselor stays in touch. She has been a great help as my daughter is transitioning back to being a ‘normal’ teenager.
I’m not sure how our family would have made it through that time without Covenant Care!
The final miracle is this – a few weeks after the baby was born, my daughter invited her boyfriend over for dinner. My husband gave him a Bible. And we held hands and prayed together. God can take any situation and completely transform it. What could have been seen as evil was, in the end, used for good.
