Your Adoption Plan - Who's in the Driver's Seat?
Adoption has changed a lot! If you choose to make an adoption plan, you will have a voice for your desires in the process. A caseworker will meet with you to walk through your options and use her experience to counsel you through each step of the journey.
A few of the choices you may have include:
- Would you like to view scrapbooks of couples waiting to adopt?
- How involved would you like the birth father to be in this adoption process?
- Would you like to possibly meet the adoptive couple before you deliver? Or afterwards? Maybe not at all!
- Would you like someone to help you explain your adoption plan to family members, your doctor, or even the hospital staff where you will deliver?
- Would you like to receive pictures and letters up-dating you on your child’s development?
- Is there anything you would like to give to the adoptive parents for your child to have one day? A special outfit, pictures of you or even a letter?
The couples waiting to adopt through Covenant Care have their own caseworker who is helping them think through their desires related to adoption. Just like you, they have experienced a great deal before this point in their journey. They also have hopes and dreams to be handled tenderly. Although you have many choices, ultimately, we believe that God is in the driver’s seat when it comes to your adoption plan! We believe God knows what you are going through, what the adoptive couples long for, and what the future holds for your baby. He delights in bringing peace where there is fear, hope where there is despair, and healing where there are deep wounds!
