Navigating an Unexpected Pregnancy in Georgia

We know that deciding what to do in an unexpected pregnancy is one of the hardest, most personal choices you may ever face. If you want to learn more about abortion options, free pregnancy and parenting resources, or the different types of adoption—open, closed, or semi-open—we will walk through each option with compassion, empathy, and your best interests at heart.
Our role is not to pressure you, but to listen, answer your questions honestly, and make sure you have the information and support you need to choose what’s right for you.
Your First Steps - Before You Decide
1. Meet with a Counselor—Wherever You Are
Covenant Care counselors are located across Georgia and will meet you in a place you feel comfortable—your home, a coffee shop, the library—at no cost.
2. Explore Your Options
There's no pressure. Covenant Care helps you understand both paths and connects you with reliable resources if you decide to parent. If you are considering abortion, we can talk through types, side effects, what to expect, abortion pill reversal if you change your mind, and after abortion counseling resources.
3. Make a Choice That’s Right for You
Pregnancy decisions are complex. Take the time you need to think through what you want and plan your future. Also know that you can explore additional options even after a choice has been made.
-
If you chose an abortion and change your mind after taking the first pill, abortion pill reversal is possible and can allow you to continue a healthy pregnancy when successful.
-
If you choose adoption, you do not sign any legally binding paperwork until after you give birth, and after you sign that legal paperwork, you have 4 days to change your mind.
-
If you choose to parent, but then decide to make an adoption plan, you still have options, and we can walk you through these steps.
If You Choose Adoption
1. You Can Design an Adoption Plan That Fits You
If adoption is right for you, you get to choose the adoptive family by reviewing profiles aligned with your hopes and values. Arrangements can be closed, open, or semi-open, offering continued connection if desired.
2. You Can Change Your Mind
You do not sign any legally binding paperwork until after the birth, then Georgia Law gives you a four-day window to change your mind if you choose. We’ll help you learn about all your rights before and after pregnancy or placement.
3. You Control the Process
Once your plan is set, you complete the necessary legal paperwork. We’ll walk you through all the details with transparency and a clear understanding of your options.
For Teens Considering Adoption
If you are under 18 and pregnant, you have the right to make an adoption plan for your baby. In most cases, you do not need your parents’ permission to choose adoption. You will be the one making the decisions about your baby’s future, and our team is here to support you with respect, compassion, and confidentiality.
We know this can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to go through it alone. We will walk with you, explain your options, and make sure you feel confident and cared for every step of the way. If you’d like, we can even help talk with your family about your adoption plan so that you feel supported, not pressured.
A Mission Rooted in Service, Not Sales
Covenant Care is a state-licensed, nonprofit agency supported by donors and fundraising. Adoption fees cover only about one-third of the operating costs, ensuring finances don’t drive decisions. We are mission-focused, not profit-driven—and it shows in our open books and how we treat everyone involved.
