Pregnant? We Can Help

Our volunteers at Covenant Care are an integral part of our team. We believe our mission could not continue without the help of our passionate volunteers. They serve our ministry with a servant’s heart, and we are grateful to have them play a vital role in the CCS operations.

Meet Steve and Heidi Thompson

We are a family who loves the Lord, seeks to serve Him in all our ways, and to love all people God places in our lives.

Our Support Team (aka Our Children)

Zachary (19), Alyssa (17), Madalyn (15), and Isaac (10)

Where do you live?

Augusta, GA

What do you do?

Steve is a polygraph examiner for the U.S. Army, CCS Interim Care Foster Dad, and Co-Owner/Photographer for WaterMarc Photography.

Heidi is a stay-at-home homeschooling mom and homemaker, CCS Interim Care Foster Momma, CCS Birthmother Ministry Mentor, CCS caseworker assistant, and Co-Owner/Photographer for WaterMarc Photography.

In what capacities have you volunteered?

Our family began serving with CCS six years ago by making up and gifting area birthmothers with birthmother baskets. We currently assist caseworkers in the Augusta area and host prayer meetings and staff/volunteer group meetings in our home.

We also serve in various other capacities, including:

  • As the CCS Augusta Interim Foster Family
  • On the CCS Volunteer/Fundraising Team for the Augusta area
  • Heidi serves as a CCS Ministry Mentor to Augusta-area birthmothers.

We offer photography as a ministry for fundraising events and provide Newborn Photography for babies in our care to gift to their birthmothers/adoptive families. Recently, we served as the photographer for the Birthmother Retreat. Finally, we assist caseworkers in the Augusta Area Outreach for CCS.

Why do you love volunteering for CCS?

We love what CCS adoption represents: Gospel ministry! Ephesians 1:4-5 says, “In love (God) predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace.”

During our brokenness, God, our Heavenly Father, came to us, offering each of us His unconditional love, grace, forgiveness, and redemption through his son, Jesus Christ. Christ adopted us as His beloved children.

He has brought beauty through the ashes of brokenness in our lives as well as those we serve.

What would you want other potential volunteers to know?

As we serve with CCS, we get to watch God write amazing stories in the lives of birthmothers, their babies, and the adoptive families. We see CCS caseworkers extend genuine care and compassion to birthmothers needing to know they are valued, first by God, but also by others. We share in the seasons of joy, weep in the moments of grief and sadness, encourage growth beyond perceived limitations, and help provide resources as birthmothers make life plans for themselves and their babies.
